  • Author: Julian
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cup 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Warm Turmeric Cinnamon Milk is a soothing, aromatic beverage made by gently heating milk with a blend of turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and a touch of honey. This comforting drink combines anti-inflammatory spices with creamy milk, enhanced by a hint of black pepper to boost turmeric’s benefits. Perfect for relaxation and wellness, it can be easily customized with plant-based or dairy milk and includes an optional coconut oil for added richness.

Ingredients

Scale

Milk Base

  • 1 cup milk (plant-based like almond milk or dairy milk)

Sweetener and Fat

  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional)

Spices

  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat Milk and Sweetener: In a small saucepan, gently heat 1 cup of your chosen milk with 1 teaspoon of honey and the optional 1 teaspoon of coconut oil over medium heat. Stir occasionally and bring the mixture to just below boiling point, marked by small bubbles forming around the pan’s edge.
  2. Add Spices and Blend: Remove the pan from the heat and whisk in the spices—1/4 teaspoon each of ground turmeric, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cardamom—until they are well combined. Allow the mixture to stand for a few minutes to deepen the flavors.
  3. Strain and Season: Optionally, strain the milk through a fine-mesh strainer to remove spice residue for a smoother texture. Add a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper to enhance the absorption of curcumin from the turmeric. Stir well.
  4. Serve and Enjoy: Pour the warm spiced milk into a cup and enjoy immediately as a comforting and nourishing beverage.
  5. Make a Spice Mix in Advance: To prepare a large batch of the spice mix, combine 1/4 cup each of turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom in a jar. Stir well and store. Use 1 teaspoon of this blend per cup of milk when making the drink.

Notes

  • You can use any type of milk including oat, almond, soy, or cow’s milk depending on dietary preference.
  • Adding coconut oil is optional but adds richness and healthy fats that aid in absorbing turmeric’s active compounds.
  • Freshly ground black pepper is essential to optimize the bioavailability of turmeric’s curcumin.
  • Straining the milk is optional but recommended for a silky smooth texture.
  • Store the prepared spice blend in an airtight container away from light and moisture for up to 3 months.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
  • This drink is best consumed warm and freshly prepared for maximum flavor and health benefits.
