Decadent tiramisu brownies combine rich, fudgy chocolate with creamy mascarpone and espresso infusions, creating a delightful fusion of classic brownie and tiramisu flavors. These brownies are perfect for coffee lovers and dessert enthusiasts seeking a sophisticated yet simple treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 113 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 90 g all-purpose flour, sifted
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 shots of espresso or instant coffee

Mascarpone Cream Topping

  • 250 g mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 240 ml heavy cream
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp espresso powder
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Tin: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8 or 9-inch square baking tin with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter: Combine chopped dark chocolate and unsalted butter in a bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add Sugars: Mix the brown sugar and granulated sugar into the melted chocolate mixture until combined, creating a rich, sweet base.
  4. Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla: Add vanilla extract followed by eggs, one at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition to ensure a smooth batter.
  5. Add Dry Ingredients: Sift together flour and salt then gently fold or whisk into the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing for tender brownies.
  6. Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking tin and smooth the top evenly. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Espresso Infusion: Once baked, remove brownies from the oven and immediately poke holes on the surface. Pour the 2 shots of espresso evenly over the warm brownies to soak in the coffee flavor. Set aside to cool completely.
  8. Prepare Mascarpone Cream: In a mixing bowl, whisk mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, and heavy cream together for about 30 seconds until combined.
  9. Add Flavorings and Whip: Add espresso powder and sugar to the mascarpone mixture. Whisk vigorously for 2-3 minutes until stiff peaks form, creating a light and airy cream topping.
  10. Assemble Tiramisu Brownies: Spread the mascarpone cream evenly over the cooled brownie base and smooth the top with a spatula.
  11. Dust with Cocoa: Using a sieve, dust a generous layer of cocoa powder over the mascarpone topping for a classic tiramisu finish.
  12. Serve: Carefully lift the brownies out of the tin using the parchment paper, peel it away, and cut the brownies into equal-sized squares. Enjoy your tiramisu brownies!

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Ensure mascarpone is at room temperature to prevent lumps in the cream.
  • If you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, add an extra tablespoon of espresso powder to the cream.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Allow brownies to cool completely before adding mascarpone cream to prevent melting.
