- 1 cup (245 g) whole milk, warmed (about 105-115°F)
- 7 tablespoons (99 g) unsalted butter, melted, divided
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 3 ½ cups (444.5 g) bread flour
Cinnamon Honey Butter
- ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the warm water, 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture is thick and the yeast and sugar are dissolved.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the remaining 5 tablespoons sugar, melted butter (6 tablespoons), warmed milk, and kosher salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until just combined to create a cohesive liquid mixture.
- Add Egg: Crack in the room temperature egg and mix well to incorporate it into the wet ingredients.
- Incorporate Flour: Gradually add the bread flour to the mixture and beat on medium-high speed for about 3 minutes, scraping down the bowl as needed until dough starts to come together.
- Knead Dough: Reduce to low speed and knead the dough for an additional 3-4 minutes until smooth and elastic.
