These Texas Roadhouse Rolls are soft, fluffy, and buttery, perfect for serving warm alongside your favorite meals. Made from scratch with a yeast dough, they are baked to golden perfection and topped with a delicious cinnamon honey butter, making them irresistibly sweet and aromatic.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 tablespoon water, warmed (about 105-115°F)
  • 6 tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (245 g) whole milk, warmed (about 105-115°F)
  • 7 tablespoons (99 g) unsalted butter, melted, divided
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3 ½ cups (444.5 g) bread flour

Cinnamon Honey Butter

  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the warm water, 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture is thick and the yeast and sugar are dissolved.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the remaining 5 tablespoons sugar, melted butter (6 tablespoons), warmed milk, and kosher salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until just combined to create a cohesive liquid mixture.
  3. Add Egg: Crack in the room temperature egg and mix well to incorporate it into the wet ingredients.
  4. Incorporate Flour: Gradually add the bread flour to the mixture and beat on medium-high speed for about 3 minutes, scraping down the bowl as needed until dough starts to come together.
  5. Knead Dough: Reduce to low speed and knead the dough for an additional 3-4 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. First Rise: Lightly spray a large bowl with nonstick cooking spray and place the dough inside. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  8. Shape Rolls: Punch down the risen dough gently to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces by either repeatedly halving or rolling into a log and cutting with a bench knife.
  9. Form Balls: Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place evenly spaced in the prepared baking dish.
  10. Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until nearly doubled in size.
  11. Preheat Oven: While the rolls are finishing their second rise, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Bake Rolls: Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top.
  13. Butter the Rolls: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of melted butter to give them a shiny, rich finish.
  14. Make Cinnamon Honey Butter: In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  15. Serve: Serve the warm rolls with the cinnamon honey butter spread for an irresistible sweet and buttery treat.

Notes

  • Ensure water and milk are warmed to about 105-115°F to properly activate yeast without killing it.
  • Using bread flour helps create a chewy, soft texture typical of Texas Roadhouse rolls.
  • Letting the rolls rise fully is critical for achieving a soft, fluffy interior.
  • The cinnamon honey butter can be made ahead and refrigerated; bring to room temperature before serving.
  • For extra softness, brush rolls again with butter right after baking and before serving.
