Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 1 cup cut strawberries
- 1 orange, cut into small slices
- 3 green apples, cut into small chunks (2–3 apples for puree and additional for chunks)
Liquids & Alcohol
- 1 bottle of chilled Moscato wine (750 ml)
- 6 oz Pucker Sour Apple Liqueur
- 6 oz pineapple juice
- 5–6 oz green apple puree (see puree preparation)
Green Apple Puree
- 2–3 large green apples, cut into large chunks
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup water
- Squeeze of lemon juice (to prevent browning)
Instructions
- Prepare Green Apple Puree: Cut 2-3 large green apples into large chunks. Heat a saucepan over medium heat and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water—just enough to coat the bottom to prevent sticking. Cook the apple chunks for about 10 minutes or until they are slightly soft on the outside. Remove from heat, let them cool, then transfer to a blender. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning and blend until smooth. Add additional water if needed to reach a smooth consistency. This should yield about 5 ounces of puree.
- Combine Sangria Ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the chilled bottle of Moscato, 6 ounces of pineapple juice, 6 ounces of Pucker Sour Apple Liqueur, and 5-6 ounces of your prepared green apple puree. Stir gently to mix all the liquids well.
- Add Fresh Fruit: Add 1 cup of cut strawberries, slices from 1 orange, and small chunks from the remaining green apples to the pitcher. These fresh fruits infuse the sangria with natural flavors and beautiful colors.
- Chill or Serve: If serving immediately, add ice to the pitcher to chill the sangria. Alternatively, refrigerate the mixture until ready to serve to allow flavors to meld. When ready, pour the sangria over fresh ice in glasses and garnish with extra fruit pieces if desired.
Notes
- The green apple puree can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Moscato with sparkling white grape juice and omit the sour apple liqueur.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of pineapple juice or adding a simple syrup if desired.
- Using fresh, chilled ingredients enhances the flavor and presentation of the sangria.
