Description

This Easy Croissant Breakfast Pie is a delicious and satisfying breakfast dish combining flaky croissant dough with a savory egg, cheese, and meat filling. Perfect for a quick yet impressive morning meal, it features a golden, buttery crust enveloping a rich custard made with eggs, milk, cheese, and optional vegetables and meats, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Base

  • 1 package of croissant dough (810 croissants)

Filling

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1 cup of diced cooked ham, bacon, or sausage (optional)
  • ½ cup of chopped bell peppers (optional)
  • ½ cup of chopped onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pie.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly grease a pie dish or round baking pan using cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  3. Roll Out Croissant Dough: Open the croissant dough package, separate the triangles, and lay them out overlapping slightly to cover the bottom and sides of the pie dish as a crust.
  4. Whisk Eggs and Milk: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Add Fillings: Stir in the shredded cheese, cooked meat, bell peppers, and onions (if using) into the egg mixture thoroughly to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  6. Pour Mixture: Carefully pour the filling mixture over the croissant dough in the pie dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Fold Over Edges: Gently fold the edges of the croissant dough over the filling to form a crust and help contain the filling during baking.
  8. Bake: Place the prepared pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the egg filling is fully set.
  9. Cool: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes so the filling can settle and slicing will be easier.
  10. Garnish: Sprinkle fresh herbs on top for added flavor and an attractive presentation before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling by using your preferred cheese and choice of cooked meats or omit meats for a vegetarian version.
  • Vegetables like bell peppers and onions add extra flavor and texture but can be omitted or substituted.
  • Ensure the egg mixture is thoroughly cooked and set before removing from the oven to avoid a runny center.
  • Serve warm for best taste and texture.
