Description
These festive Deviled Egg Christmas Trees are a fun and healthy twist on a classic appetizer. Made with creamy avocado and traditional seasonings, they are decorated to resemble holiday Christmas trees, making them perfect for holiday parties and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
Eggs
- 6 large eggs
Filling
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Garnish
- Paprika, for garnish
- 6 cherry or yellow mini tomatoes, halved
- 6 red bell pepper or carrot star-shaped cutouts
Instructions
- Boil the eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and cover the pan. Let the eggs sit for 10–12 minutes to cook through, then transfer them to an ice bath to cool completely. Peel the eggs carefully once cooled.
- Prepare the egg whites and yolks: Slice each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out the yolks and place them into a mixing bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving tray for filling.
- Make the filling: Mash the egg yolks until smooth. Add the ripe avocado, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
- Pipe the filling: Transfer the filling into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe the mixture onto each egg white half in a tall, swirled pattern to resemble Christmas trees.
- Garnish the trees: Sprinkle paprika over the filled eggs for a festive touch. Place a halved cherry tomato or yellow mini tomato on top of each piped filling as the tree topper. Attach a red bell pepper or carrot star-shaped cutout on top of the tomato to complete the look.
- Chill and serve: Place the finished deviled egg Christmas trees in the refrigerator to chill before serving. This helps the flavors meld and keeps them fresh for your guests.
Notes
- Use fresh eggs for best peeling results.
- The avocado adds creaminess and a healthy twist instead of using all mayonnaise.
- You can prepare the eggs a day ahead and assemble just before serving.
- Feel free to customize garnishes with other colorful veggies for variety.
- Ensure the piping bag tip is a star shaped one to get the Christmas tree effect.
